Technically, I’ve been talking to millions of people online for the past 4+ years and didn’t flinch, but stepping on stage in front of 500+ marketers at Semrush Spotlight was a whole different story.

😱Five minutes before my talk I was ready to fake an injury and flee the building.
But I stayed, spoke, survived, and got a wave of positive feedback I was not expecting.

šŸ¤œšŸ»1,200+ marketers coming togheter in Amsterdam, all there to make sense of how marketing is evolving.

šŸ‘€ The talks and conversations gave me enough food for thought to fill months with juicy posts, so keep your eyes peeled.

For now, a few well-deserved thank-yous:

• Marina, Nicole & Rita for pulling off an exceptional event and for making me part of the extended Semrush family for months.

• Diandra, my partner in crime and co-founder of The Workflow. After months of calls, years of commenting, realizing you’re EVEN BETTER in person has been THE highlight.

• Max for being my personal cheerleader and helping me make the talk land as well as it did.

• Rolf, Tycho, Stefan, Shlomo, Nike, Thomas, Leigh, Brandon and everyone I finally had the chance to meet in skin and bones. Proof that the best part of digital is when it turns human again.

Now it’s time for a long weekend of touristing, canal walks, and too many stroopwafels.

If you have any Amsterdam tips, drop them below šŸ‘‡

Marketing has always been the most underrated function in business.
But lately, things are getting out of hand.

Job descriptions read like science fiction.Ā
Written by AI, designed for cyborgs, not humans.

ā€œSolo marketingā€ has become the norm: one person wearing 67 hats, expected to be a brand strategist, content engine, growth hacker, and part-time therapist to leadership when pipeline dries up.

A recent study by Contentoo found that 40% of marketers feel constantly overworked. They’re REALLY being stretched to their limits like never before.

Spent the weekend prepping my talk for Semrush’s Spotlight on how to survive solo marketing, something I’ve had to master twice.
I built it around input from 200 marketers to focus on real struggles, not guesswork.

Grateful to talk about something that’s become impossible to ignore.

If you’re joining Spotlight, come say hi.Ā
I’d šŸ’— to see you there.

🤔 What’s more fun: B2B or B2C marketing?
Everyone’s got an opinion.
Few can explain why.

One brave man tried to unpack it live at Semrush Spotlight last week.Ā
He was never seen alive again.

Thanks to Tycho & Steven for making B2B dangerously fun (and for giving us all a matcha overdose).
If you’re not following them yet, go fix that now.

P.S. I swear I did not plan the "PowerPoint dance." šŸ˜…
